CHANGES ARE A COMING...

Last year when I created this blog, my hope was that it would be a quick and easy way for Marinette Middle School staff to access information relating to students discipline issues. This turned out to be more a challenge than I anticipated. Many of you for a variety of reason have not been able to access the Updater. I have worked on trying to find a solution and have made some changes to the format and access to the blog. First of all, you will not have to login with a Google account to access the AP Updater. Simply go to any computer with Internet access and type in APUpdater.blogspot.com. The Updater should load without problem. You will see a calendar (list my daily schedule) and a variety of links to information and research related to attendance, discipline, bullying and other student issues as other items of interest. You will also have the ability to comment on a specific post that I have made to the blog. You will not see any confidential student discipline information. To access this information, click on the link "STUDENT DISCIPLINE BULLETIN" (locate immediately below the calendar). You will be redirected to a web page that will invite you to download a file that contains current student specific HLS, ISS, OSS, Alternate Lunch, and Bus Suspension information. Click on the blue "DOWNLOAD" button. A small window will then prompt you to either "Open with" or "Save file". Choose "Open file 'Microsoft Word'" (Choose Microsoft Word from drop down menu if it is not alread the default). The file will then open in Microsoft Word. You will be prompted to enter a password. I will send this password to you in a separate e-mail (please do not share this password with anyone other than middle school staff). You will need to enter this same password each time to download this file. My hope is to update this information twice a day. Once in the morning and once around noon. Once you have the file open in Word you can easily print it like any other document.

Though this process sounds lengthy it is basically a few clicks and your done. Hopefully, there will be less "glitches" in accessing this information than there were last year and confidential information will only be accessible to staff who I have given the password. I will be testing this over the next month prior to the start of school. I will keep you posted on any changes that I make to the above process.

See you in a month!!!
