WORDS FROM THE AP

Hello there. Yeah!!! ISS, after-school and lunch detentions are up and running. Patti Hubbard and Denice Adams have worked very hard to get the HLS student data input over the past couple of weeks. Patti will be supervising both ISS students and lunch detention students this year. This will be no easy task, especially if we have a room filled with ISS kids. My hope is to keep the number of students in ISS down to a manageable number. I also believe in some cases, especially for students sent out of class...that those students should be allowed back to class ISS when they are ready to return. I will be experimenting with this philosophy this year.

PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE ALL INFRACTIONS TO THE OFFICE BY 3:17p.m. IF YOU WANT THEM INPUT FOR THAT DAY!!!

In my last post I mentioned some changes in the way ISS is going to be run. Not all of you were able view that post...so I will send that information in a separate e-mail sometime today.

Something that I thought a lot about over the weekend was communication and phone calls home. I have already talked to a lot of parents this year and will continue to do that. I would also like to see all teaching staff continue and increase the number of calls they make home. Often times, you are able to give a more detailed account of a students behavior because of the amount of time you spend with that student each day. This is yet another intervention that we can show we have done in helping students achieve success at Marinette Middle School.

Adam and I are still working out some issue in making this blog private. Please check your e-mail for an update on who's OSS, ISS, etc.

Have a great week!
